The Edge of Us — A Heartbreak Poem About Dangerous Love and Emotional Risk

The Edge of Us — A Heartbreak Poem About Dangerous Love and Emotional Risk

The Edge of Us

Your lips are promises,

both kept and broken,

your touch a map

I can’t stop tracing,

even when it leads to fire.

Love with you is a riddle,

its answer always shifting,

but still, I stay—

drawn to the edge of us,

where falling feels like freedom.

About This Poem

Some love feels safe.

And some love feels like standing at the edge of something you know could break you — but staying anyway.

This poem came from thinking about the kind of connection that pulls you in even when you recognize the danger. The kind of love that confuses clarity with intensity and makes risk feel like freedom.

"The Edge of Us" is about contradiction — promises that feel real even when they don’t hold, passion that burns even when it hurts.

Some love builds stability.
Some love builds tension.

This poem lives in that uncertain space — where staying feels just as dangerous as leaving.
