Still Close — A Love Poem About Distance and Unbreakable Connection

Still Close

Distance is a shadow,

stretching across the space between us,

but it cannot touch

what we carry in silence.

Your voice hums in my thoughts,

a melody that time cannot erase,

your laughter etched

into the walls of my heart.

Miles only measure ground,

not the threads that bind us.

I feel you in every quiet moment,

your presence filling the gaps

where absence pretends to live.

We are near,

not because we see each other,

but because we never stopped holding on.

About This Poem — Still Close

Distance has a way of testing what we believe about love.

Not by breaking it, but by stretching it — asking whether connection can survive when presence becomes memory instead of touch.

This poem came from thinking about the quiet ways people stay close even when miles separate them. The way a voice lingers in your thoughts. The way laughter becomes something you carry instead of something you hear.

"Still Close" is about the kind of connection that distance cannot weaken — the kind that lives in memory, patience, and silent understanding.

Some love isn’t measured by proximity.
It’s measured by endurance.
